Saturday, September 28th - Day 18 Drive from Eze to Courthezon and our House
Driving from Eze to Courthezon we encountered a few surprise sights. We got off the highway just beyond Nice for a coffee and WC break and in a few minutes came to Lac de Saint-Cassien, a large lake created by a dam that was a lovely eco recreational site with a tourist information office and restaurant. We had coffee as we looked out and watched rowers skimming along the water.

The next stop was to pick up sandwiches for lunch. We headed to Frejus, just a short drive south from the highway on the coast. It could be Florida! Large holiday town, romantic ruins, amusement park, long sandy beach, shopping mall, palm trees.
We then spent several hours on the phone with Verizon trying to find out why Deb did not have any phone, text, or data - which was part of our phone plan. Tiny success but must try again tomorrow. Meanwhile, the landscape was changing dramatically - much drier and flatter with sudden rocky outcroppings.
And then our arrival in the AirBnb apartment of a nice older home at 292 Route de Beauregard, 84350 Courthezon. (Note from later in the trip... check out the bikes that Deb talked about using but we never managed to take advantage. Bike touring is hugely popular, especially a bit further inland around Mt. Ventoux and the hill towns.)
