Friday, October 4th - Day 24 - Evening - Candlelight Concert in Roman Theater
We were in for a very special treat - a candlelight open-air concert by a string quartet in the Roman Theater in Orange. " Coldplay VS Imagine Dragons." Just imagine that the ancient theater has been entertaining people for 2,000 years with the audience in the same seats looking at the same scene. To get ready for the night's entertainment we listened to tunes by both bands and decided that the song "Clocks" by Coldplay was our favorite.
When we arrived the sun was just going down. It was chilly but we were dressed for it. Deb had on her Irish wool sweater plus 3 other layers and her Nova Scotia tartan hat. Also each guest was given a fleece blanket - a nice touch - we also brought one. We were early and got good seats. Only the first tier was used. In Roman times these seats were reserved for the elites in society.
On the stage, over 3,000 candles were lit up for the performance. As the sky darkened, the candles lit up the whole back wall of the stage. Everything was glowing in the gold light.

The quartet came in through the candles, were seated, and the magical concert began. The musicians were 3 men and a woman - all very lively but the woman really played it up. So fun. They played for over an hour and came back for an encore. We took videos and lots of photos.
